The 3R Group was the victim of a cyberattack on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Since this incident, our teams have been working tirelessly to restore the operation of all our tools and services. We are aware of the difficulties this situation may still be causing. We sincerely apologize and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Current situation in brief (Last updated: June 30, 2026)
All our centers are open and operational. Since June 26, 2026, all 3R Group centers have had a new IT and technical infrastructure, fully rebuilt and secured with the support of specialist cybersecurity partners certified ISO 27001. Our main IT tools, namely RIS, PACS, and telephony, are operational again. Network-based work, particularly teleradiology, has also been restored. This enables our specialist radiologists to interpret examinations remotely according to their field of expertise, regardless of the 3R center where the examination was carried out.
The practical solutions currently in place for accessing images and reports, the development of our services, and upcoming IT developments will be updated continuously on this webpage.
For patients
- For appointments scheduled before May 1, 2026 only, please contact your center to confirm your examination, either by phone or via our online contact form.
- For any new appointment request, please use our online contact form whenever possible.
- Please make sure to carefully note the date and time of your appointment. There are no automatic appointment reminders.
For referring physicians
- We are able to provide care for your patients for all radiological examinations usually performed in our centers, with the exception of CT colonography and coronary CT for the time being.
- Examination reports are currently being sent by postal mail or, upon request, by email. Automated sending and access to the referring physicians’ portal have not yet been restored.
- Access to images is still provided by sending CDs. CDs generated from our new infrastructure can be identified by a green sticker.
- All protective measures have been taken to ensure that the temporary transmission of data from our centers via physical media cannot pose an infection risk to your IT system.
- In the coming days, images will be accessible via a secure internet link sent by email upon request.
- Regarding imaging examination archives, a significant portion of examinations carried out since April 2026 is already accessible. In parallel, we are continuing the steps undertaken with our hospital and clinic partners to gradually recover historical data archived before the cyberattack.
- For any general questions, please use our online contact form.
General questions and answers
What type of incident was it?
It was a ransomware attack involving data encryption. The incident was reported to the Federal Office for Cybersecurity, FOCS, and a criminal complaint was filed. No ransom will be paid, in accordance with the authorities’ recommendations. The company’s administrative data was encrypted and stolen, including personal information relating to current and former employees. Medical data, namely examination results, was also encrypted, making it impossible to use. However, it is not possible to state with certainty whether these patients’ medical data was also stolen. Investigations are ongoing. Please note that this cyberattack is completely unrelated to the one already suffered in 2025, which involved different perpetrators and a different modus operandi.
Was patient care affected?
Mainly on May 1 and 2. However, all centers remained open, and patient care was largely maintained, although sometimes with some delay. Certain types of examinations nevertheless had to be rescheduled for a later date or redirected to other facilities.
We still recommend that patients with an appointment at a 3R center scheduled before May 1, 2026 contact that center before going there, in order to check whether the planned examination can take place.
We are able to provide care for radiological examinations usually performed in our centers, with the exception of CT colonography and coronary CT for the time being.
We apologize to everyone affected in any way by this incident.
What should I watch out for if I assume that my personal or medical data has been stolen?
What should I watch out for if I assume that my personal or medical data has been stolen?
Using stolen information, the hackers could, in particular, attempt to contact you in order to trick you into giving them money or information. For example, they may send you a fake additional invoice by email, or even by postal mail, for an examination that was carried out.
We particularly urge patients who have recently undergone an examination in one of our imaging centers in French-speaking Switzerland to remain vigilant and not hesitate to contact us to verify the authenticity of any invoice received.
As a reminder, under the third-party payer system now widely used, patients insured in Switzerland under LAMal generally receive only a copy of the invoice sent to the insurer, and not an invoice to be paid directly.

Is there still a risk that my health data may be leaked if I come for an examination at a 3R imaging center?
No. The hackers’ intrusion was quickly stopped. The security of data from new examinations is guaranteed. Aware of its responsibilities, the 3R Group is doing everything possible and continues to invest in strengthening its IT security strategy. Unfortunately, zero risk does not exist in IT. Recent developments in Switzerland show that all healthcare providers are under constant pressure from increasingly well-organized and determined hackers.
Has any examination data been lost?
At present, some data from examinations carried out in the past remains inaccessible, as does access to various 3R services, particularly remote consultation services. If necessary, please do not hesitate to contact by phone the imaging center where the examination was carried out. We sincerely thank you for your patience and trust.
